Great experience! I had never crocheted before so I used some YT videos to learn the basics (made a little whale) and then off we go! The only thing I would mention is be careful : the UK « double crochet » is what is called « single crochet » in the US. So I had started with what I learnt as being « double crochet » and the leg I made looked much bigger than the picture on the box 😅 so all I would say is trust your instinct (and the picture!), if the piece you are making looks bigger than on the picture, that’s probably why. The only think I changed vs the pattern is that I added a tail (basic single crochet chain) and sewed the eyes (instead of using the plastic ones that were provided) since this is for a baby so I wanted it to be 100% soft. I am super happy with my giraffe and I am heading right now to buy a new pattern! 😊
